Experience and Background by John Telese:
Hello, my name is John Telese. I graduated from high school in 2001 and immediately started working in my family's finish carpentry business in Florida. In this role, I gained experience in various tasks such as installing moldings, doors, cabinets, wood flooring, windows, exterior doors, entertainment centers, interior and exterior railings, and staircases. I specialized in high-end finish carpentry.
While working in the carpentry business, I realized the importance of expanding my knowledge in different areas of the construction industry. I wanted to prepare myself to eventually own my own business. With this goal in mind, I joined my uncle's framing crew where we built houses from the ground up. This involved interior and exterior framing, as well as working on trusses and roofs.
After my experience in framing, I ventured into the decking industry. Although I started at an entry-level position, my previous jobs provided me with a solid foundation. I joined one of the largest deck companies on Long Island and eagerly learned new techniques while working with different decking materials such as ACQ, IPE, cedar, fiberon, evergreen, trex, timbertech, azek, and more.
Over the years, I dedicated myself to learning as much as possible, knowing that one day I would open my own business. The past 20 years working in construction have shaped me into the skilled carpenter I am today. My diverse experience across various industries has made me a better carpenter overall. While my expertise lies in building decks, I approach my work with the mindset of creating dreams. Coming from a finish carpentry background, I believe I have an advantage over the competition because of my comprehensive knowledge and meticulous attention to detail.
